March 16, 2011

I live in a town capsizing with airplanes, filled with

jet drones that ripple like an earthquake’s endtrails,

red and blue freckles bubble onto Howitzer grey skies

I know they’re up there, geriatrics and pediatrics

scream, they shriek

And I live in a city buzzing and beeping, with pedestrian

pockets exploding, files uploaded, instantly

Gratification is a nefarious devil, masking its horns

indiscriminate, marching all around me,

scream, they shriek

And below my bungalow is a bar, frantic bass lines

go inland like coastbound cannery railcars,

up my stairs and through my floor and sick into the last hours of the night

Listening carefully, I hear them,

scream, they shriek.
